Do You Wooosaaahhh?
Wooosaaahhhh. Is that one word or two? I'm just wondering because sometimes that's the best way to describe how I'm feeling after a really trying day, week, month, or even year. Wooosaaahhh, when after 10 years in the radio business I stepped out on faith and started my own business. Wooosaaahhh, when a family member was sentenced to prison. Wooosaaahhh, when bills are tight and mortgage is due. Wooosaaahhh, when I realized I had no health insurance. Wooosaaahhh, when somebody hit my car and didn't file the claim. Wooosaaahhh, when I didn't get that interview or that dream job. Oh and an extra large WOOOSAAAHHH, when after a year, someone stops me in the street and says "Hey Pavar, why aren't you on 103 anymore?" or "Hey, it's Pavar From 103 Jamz." (By the way, my former employer and I are now legally divorced-so I dropped ‘From 103 Jamz’ and I’ve gone back to my maiden name of Pavar Snipe).
Over the past year I have learned that sometimes there are no words to accurately describe how we feel, when we really don't know how we feel. I mean, how do you translate: happy, sad, content, unsure, hopeful, anxious, apprehensive, stress free, stressed out, creative, stumped and even scared all into one word? You can't. That's where wooosahhhh comes in. It's a word that allows you to take your time and breathe. You take all of those feelings-- the nervousness, the anxiety, the feelings of not knowing what's next and you just exhale them slow and steady. Trust me wooosaaahhh isn't a cure all. It's not a Harry Potter spell that you can cast and expect all your bills, relationship issues and money problems to disappear. Wooosaaahhh, is a way for you to take a moment to your self and be still. As you take that deep breath in think about what's good in your life. Your family, your friends, a stranger who said "it's going to be okay" without knowing anything about you, that piece of cherry cheesecake that you ate last night (calories be damned), your dog- whatever it might be that for a brief moment gives you some peace and clarity. As you breathe out, release all the nasty things that are trying to takeover your joyful moments. Those moments are precious, and a wooosaaahhh allows you to enjoy them over and over again. Wooosaaahhh's are limitless, so have as many as you like. Don't be stingy. Have them in the car, at the gym, at work-- heck wooosaaahhh wherever you want, as often as you like. Just do it, and then feel confident that even though reality bites, wooosaaahhhs relieve some of the pain.
Love and Hugs...
